Lincoln Business Improvement Group and Visit Lincoln play a vital role in putting Lincoln ‘on the map’ as a retail and tourist destination. Both organisations aim to improve the overall experience for those who visit, live and work in Lincoln.
The previous on-premise phone system was out of date and didn’t provide the level of functionality or security that the businesses now required. Bluecube were recommended to Matt Corrigan the organisations Chief Executive to help resolve these issues.
The existing Mitel phone system was nearing end of life and could not provide the level of flexibility that Lincoln BIG required. Outbound calls were expensive through the carrier they were using as they ran over the PSTN (copper) network and security of the old system was also an area of concern for senior management. Both Lincoln BIG & Visit Lincoln regularly worked with other businesses in the Lincoln area and it was therefore critical to maintain a high level of customer experience whilst on the phones. As the team had expanded in recent months, a scalable system was also a key requirement.
Multiple options were considered and discussed but the eventual recommendation was to roll out Bluecube’s hosted Silverline system across both Lincoln BIG’s city centre office and the Visit Lincoln offices located in the Cathedral Quarter of the city. Fast internet was available at both sites with a dedicated voice connection and back up connection to ensure business continuity if the main connection failed.
Unity call control software was deployed to every PC. This gave the end user the tools to manage inbound and outbound calls and control the system more effectively. Users were able to get real time visibility of colleagues in other rooms, different offices and across both locations. Call forwards are easily activated if a user was leaving the office for lunch or a meeting but didn’t want to miss an important call. Call conferencing features were now readily available at the click of a button as well as ‘click-to-dial’ and online personal/ business directories.
Bluecube has seen a huge shift in business moving to hosted voice services that only seems to be accelerating. Bluecube feel this is largely down to the availability of superfast and affordable business internet services, even in more rural locations. BT Openreach have announced their intention to switch off the ISDN (digital) network by 2025; this will mean that businesses using ISDN2 and ISDN30 services are starting to look at next generation comms for their future plans. Silverline from Bluecube is the perfect solution for any small, medium or large enterprise looking for a safe and expansive alternative solution.
